We enjoy more warm and sunny days than most other places! Andrews enjoys an average of 316 days of sunshine per year and a median temperature of 63 degrees making our climate perfect for those who love to spend time outdoors.
Start with an 18-hole golf course, home of PGA’s Chad Campbell, which ranks as one of the best and least expensive courses in West Texas. The Andrews County Golf Course is a beautiful, but challenging course for both amateur and experienced golfers. Use your own cart if you wish, and enjoy golf in casual, relaxed surroundings.
Our Senior Activity Center and County Youth Recreation Center also offer many recreational facilities designed to meet the needs of all ages. A variety of recreational opportunities for the youth of Andrews are available such as: baseball, basketball, football, cheerleading, tennis, volleyball, softball, and soccer. The programs have produced, among others, collegiate All-American and NFL runningback, Shaud Williams. And throughout the year, various organizations in the community offer adult recreational events and leagues. In addition to existing recreational facilities, Andrews County has pledged $3,000,000 dollars to the construction of a Multi-purpose Agricultural Complex, which will open its doors in January and host various events, such as the annual Heath Hamilton Memorial Roping Event.
Residents enjoy a number of public parks conveniently located throughout Andrews. Andrews County offers many acres of community parks and athletic fields containing outdoor grills, picnic grounds, playgrounds, baseball/softball fields, as well as basketball and tennis courts. You can take a brisk walk around a park, jump into a refreshing indoor or outdoor swimming pool, fish at City Lake, play tennis all day and night on one of our lighted tennis courts, or just take advantage of the wonderful climate for gardening.
