The Andrews Independent School District (A.I.S.D.) has a history of proud achievement in its program of working for educational excellence. The major thrust for A.I.S.D. continues to be toward high-quality learning experiences for the students of the community. As a result, the community enjoys a reputation for having one of the outstanding school systems in the state.
Located away from problems associated with the urban district, A.I.S.D. provides an exceptional curriculum, advanced technology and instructional equipment, and forward thinking leadership that makes teaching a rewarding career. The curriculum is designed to stay on the cutting edge of educational innovation, and it offers special niches for the academically gifted, the mentally and emotionally disabled, the physically challenged, and the athletically skilled.
Since the days in which all grades met in a single building, Andrews Independent School District has grown to include four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. A.I.S.D. has a legacy of academic and athletic excellence that is actually surpassed by none. Andrews Independent School District holds the state record for the most University Interscholastic League titles (combined athletic and academic titles). A Texas Education Agency “Recognized” school district, Andrews has won the District University Interscholastic League academic title 39 of the past 43 years. Last year, in addition to academic, band and choir, every AISD sports program, boys and girls, advanced to post-district competition.
Andrews High School offers a comprehensive curriculum including academic studies for the college bound with advanced courses in several areas, a variety of vocational courses, physical training, and extracurricular activities. As well as, local Vocational and State Industrial Job Training Programs. The district participates in Class 3A University Interscholastic League competition..
Andrews ISD Education Foundation:
The Andrews ISD Education Foundation is a nonprofit corporation (501)(C)(3) chartered in April 2000. The Foundation operates independently of the School District for the purpose of: facilitating student achievement and recognizing and promoting staff excellence, businesses and civic organizations in the community. The vision of the founders of the Andrews ISD Educational Foundation was to develop an organization with great possibilities for enhancing and enriching the educational experiences of both students and faculty of Andrews ISD. In order to realize this vision, the founders created a permanent endowment by collecting tax-deductible gifts. The interest from the endowment will be used to provide solid monetary support for educational programs and opportunities beyond the budget of Andrews ISD. Since its creation, the Education Foundation has disbursed $259,052 to different AISD Programs.
